"The Lincoln Project" artist discussion scheduled for
March 11 at Presidential Museum
Don Pollack will reflect on his unique perspective of the
Lincoln legacy during this free program
Springfield, IL — Don Pollack, the artist who created "The Lincoln Project" exhibit now on display at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum, will discus the exhibit and the inspiration behind it during a discussion Wednesday, March 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum’s Union Theater. There is no admission charge, but seating is limited and reservations must be made by calling (217) 558-8934.
"The Lincoln Project" by Chicago artist Don Pollack opened February 8 and will be displayed through May 17 in the Presidential Museum’s Illinois Gallery. The exhibit is a series of contemporary paintings highlighting the life of Abraham Lincoln, and includes painted landscapes, portraits, maps, and documents. Pollack is interested in how photography and painting affect the recording of history and impact our personal and collective memory. "The Lincoln Project" serves as a personal narrative of the 16th President and reveals his complexity. Pollack visited many of the sites and landscapes important in telling the Lincoln story, and his exhibit is like a journey of Lincoln discovery for visitors. "The Lincoln Project" earned Pollack the Order of Lincoln Medallion from The Lincoln Academy of Illinois on February 7 during a special Lincoln Bicentennial awards ceremony. An interview with Pollack may be viewed at www.presidentlincoln.org.
The exhibit is part of the Presidential Library and Museum’s observance of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial. For more information, visit www.presidentlincoln.org or www.lincoln200.net.
