Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum Celebrates Lincoln's Birthday
Festivities to include seminars, music and more
SPRINGFIELD, IL: One-hundred and ninety-seven years ago, Abraham Lincoln was born in a one-room log cabin in Hardin County, Kentucky. Today, his birth is observed across the country and, for the first time, at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. Below is a list of events scheduled for Lincoln's birthday weekend celebration.

Ceremonial Flag Raising - The ALPLM is honored to fly a US flag that flew over an Army camp near Baiji, Tikrit in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The flag was presented to the State of Illinois, in recognition of the state's first-rate treatment of veterans, by Army Specialist James Wagner, who returned from Iraq in July. The American flag flew over Spc. Wagner's Army camp. Spc. Wagner feels a special connection to Abraham Lincoln as he shares the sixteenth president's birthday, February 12. The brief ceremony will be performed by local Boy Scout Troop 202 of Springfield. Public welcome. |

Major Findings from the Lincoln
Legal Papers - A project team member discusses the
findings of fifteen years of research and investigation, including
the final phase of the project, a four volume selection of cases
representative of Abraham Lincoln's legal practice, which will
be published by the University of Virginia Press in 2007. First

of structures that predate those reconstructed by the Civilian
Conservation Corps in the 1930s, including his efforts to excavate
