Ford's Theater drama "One Destiny" Feb. 11 - 13 at Presidential Museum Springfield, IL — An original drama set in Ford's Theater in the days following Lincoln's assassination will be presented Wednesday through Friday, February 11, 12 and 13 at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum's 250-seat Union Theater. One Destiny, a play by Richard Hellesen, will be staged at 3 p.m. February 11; 2:15 and 2:45 p.m. February 12; and 3 p.m. February 13. Paid Museum admission is required to attend the performances. One Destiny takes place on the stage of Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC in the days following the assassination of President Lincoln in April 1865. Harry Hawk, the actor who was performing onstage when the president was shot, revisits the night of April 15 with Harry Ford, the theatre's manager. The two actors play several characters during the course of the 40-minute play, which features Terry Jones and Ed MacMurdo. "It's another way to tell history in an entertaining way," said director Phil Funkenbusch. "We get into the skin of these two men who were affected by what happened to the president. Once again, figures from history come alive for an audience. The play puts another human face on an historical event." One Destiny was commissioned by and premiered at Ford's Theatre in 2007.
