Antique tractor show July 25 outside Lincoln Presidential Museum
More than 30 antique and small engine tractors will be displayed outside the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 25 in conjunction with the Museum's new exhibit, Illinois Stories: "How Vast and How Varied a Field..." The Agricultural Vision of Abraham Lincoln.
The public is welcome to view the tractors free of charge along Sixth Street in front of the Museum in this show presented by the Land of Lincoln Antique Tractor and Engine Club. Then, visitors are encouraged to come inside the Museum to see the only known intact model of a 1918 John Deere all-wheel-drive tractor which is part of the new The Agricultural Vision of Abraham Lincoln exhibit. Paid admission is required to see the exhibit inside the Museum.
The Agricultural Vision of Abraham Lincoln exhibit follows the history of American agriculture from the late 1700s to the present with emphasis on Lincoln's contributions – as president, he appointed the first U.S. Agriculture Secretary and supported federal programs to modernize farming. Original Lincoln documents and artifacts are displayed alongside antique farm implements in this entertaining and thought-provoking exhibit which runs through August 31, 2010.
